Mom's Peanut Butter Bars

I don’t make these very often because I think I could eat the whole pan by myself. It s the perfect mix of peanut butter and chocolate and sweetness. Yum!

Mom’s Peanut Butter Bars

Crust:

¾ C. melted butter or margarine
1 C. sugar
1 ½ C. brown sugar
¾ C. creamy peanut butter
2 eggs
¾ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1 ½ C. flour
2 C. oatmeal

Frosting:

2 tbsp. butter, softened
½ C evaporate milk
1 tbsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. baking cocoa
4 - 4 ½ C. powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350⁰. Cream butter, peanut butter and sugars until smooth. Add egg and mix. Add baking soda, salt, flour and oatmeal and mix. Press into a large, ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 18-20 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes then spread a thin layer of peanut butter over the top. Mix all frosting ingredients and spread over the layer of peanut butter.

And then try to eat just one piece...

  1. I am going to have to make these, and I'm not even going to try to hold back. The kids will be lucky if they get any!
